My Story
About the Founder
Matti Garza, MBA, SHRM-CP
Founder, SowPoint HR Solutions, LLC

I am an HR professional dedicated to helping businesses build strong, people-centered foundations that support both compliance and growth. With nearly 17 years of experience, I bring a well-rounded perspective shaped by work across agriculture, healthcare, nonprofit, corporate, staffing, technology, manufacturing, and public sector environments.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Investigative Journalism, which developed my foundation in critical thinking, fact-finding, and communication—skills that continue to shape my approach to employee relations and workplace investigations. During my final semester, I completed four simultaneous internships across media and nonprofit organizations, strengthening my adaptability early in my career.
While advancing professionally, I earned my Master’s degree and led an internship program where over 60% of participants transitioned into long-term roles—demonstrating my ability to develop talent pipelines and align workforce needs with business goals.
My experience spans from employee relations, compliance, HR systems, onboarding and offboarding, payroll data, leave of absence administration (FMLA/CFRA), benefits, policy development, workforce analytics, and training. I have worked within union environments and built HR departments from the ground up, creating foundational functions, SOPs, scalable processes, and structured systems that support growth.
Much of my work has been in male-dominated industries, where I developed a strong commitment to leading with integrity, honest communication, and professionalism—even in complex environments. These experiences ultimately led me to establish my own business, creating solutions centered on clarity, accountability, and values-driven leadership.
I am especially passionate about helping businesses identify and develop talent, and supporting emerging leaders—often those considered the “underdog”—in building the confidence, communication, and leadership skills needed to lead with clarity and credibility. I equip leaders to transition from peer to manager while maintaining boundaries and preventing favoritism, nepotism, and compliance risks.
As a bilingual professional, I bring a culturally aware, community-centered approach—bridging communication gaps and building trust across diverse teams. I am known for recognizing potential in others and helping individuals step confidently into leadership.
As the founder of SowPoint HR Solutions, I am passionate about supporting family-owned, minority-owned, veteran-owned, and women-owned businesses in creating values-driven workplaces where people feel supported, heard, and empowered to thrive.
Outside of work, I enjoy serving in ministry, painting, writing, and hosting my podcast. I value time with my spouse and our German Shepherd, Rambo, and I bring both strategy and heart into everything I build.
Why SowPoint?
SowPoint represents the moment where businesses choose to plant the right foundation for sustainable growth. I believe what you sow in your people, processes, and compliance today directly impacts what your organization becomes tomorrow.
Water represents what sustains growth: In business, it reflects the continuous support systems that keep an organization healthy: compliance, processes, and care for people. It also symbolizes adaptability, reminding us that strong organizations learn to flow, adjust, and remain resilient through change.
The seed to sprout represents beginnings: the intentional decisions made early on that shape everything that follows. The sprout reflects growth in motion, symbolizing progress, development, and the visible results of what has been planted. It also captures the potential for unexpected, rapid growth: when the right foundation is in place, what emerges can thrive and expand beyond what was initially envisioned.
The compass represents guidance and clarity: It reflects the role of strategic HR in helping businesses navigate complex decisions, stay aligned with their values, and move forward with confidence. It’s about making the right decisions at the right time—even when they are difficult—while remaining grounded in integrity, ethics, and a commitment to doing things the right way, not simply finding loopholes.
Rooted in truth. Guided by ethics. Built for people to thrive.
